Although not one of the five traditional senses, a sense of humor is the only thing that allows humans to answer knock-knocks at the door. You’re there with this GrouponLive deal to see Off the Wall Comedy with Dana Goldberg presented by NAT Promotions at Wallstreet Nightclub on Saturday, November 17, at 8 p.m. For $16, you get one general-admission ticket, plus a postshow meet and greet and photo opportunity with Goldberg (up to a $32 value). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Voted one of the top five funniest lesbians in America by the readers of Curve magazine, Dana Goldberg's easygoing delivery of insightful observations and edgy subject matter have landed her headlining spots at comedy clubs, festivals, and universities around the country. Goldberg, host and producer of the annual Southwest Funnyfest partially benefiting New Mexico AIDS Services, first made waves in the early 2000s as part of the US Comedy Invasion at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Since then, her gut-busting tales of growing up in a single-parent household have merged with her humanitarian spirit, resulting in multiple comedy nights devoted to raising awareness and funds for the LGBT community. In her adroit standup act, Goldberg often muses on coming out of the closet, unwanted facial hair, and her codependency on certain eating habits.
Opening act Jason Dudey warms up laughing muscles with his quirky punch lines about his unfortunate last name and reflections on growing up in a neighborhood of aboveground swimming pools. After the show, ticket holders commemorate the evening with a meet and greet and photo op with Goldberg, before dancing into the night as the Wallstreet Nightclub transforms into its discotheque alter ego.
