What You’ll Do
As you walk into Decatur Glassblowing, a human-sized robot with a red glass belly greets you at the door. From there, an instructor will lead you into the studio, where you’ll get to see a small sample of the owner’s work, much of which is for sale. The instructor introduces the group to essential glassblowing tools and demonstrates the process before you get to blow your own glass heart paperweight, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Design a Valentine’s Day Gift
The instructor will help each person blow a glass heart paperweight in colors of their choice.
Take Your Paperweight Home
You can pick the paperweight up the next day or arrange for it to be mailed for an additional charge.
When it comes to the creative process, the owner of Decatur Glassblowing isn’t one to slave away in isolation. The artist surrounds himself in inspiration—namely his assistants and fellow craftsmen at the studio, where the walls twinkle with colorful glass that’s both decorative and functional. Throughout the year, the studio hosts live demonstrations, music performances, and classes taught by a team of instructors.
