Commemorating the centennial of that unforgettable day on April 15, 1912, the National Geographic Museum presents Titanic: 100 Year Obsession, a showcase of interactives, historic photographs, movie props, and images from the latest voyage to the great ship's resting place. Dwelling on the immortal lesson of hubris and honing in on the human element of the greatest ship ever built—and rediscovered by Bob Ballard in 1985—the exhibition includes evocative representations of everyday life onboard and a stirring play-by-play of her final hours. The exhibit also features memorabilia from director and explorer-in-residence James Cameron's 1997 movie, including a full-size lifeboat and a viewing of the mermaid love triangle subplot cut from the theatrical release.
