Concerts are best enjoyed in the summer, since the sunshine lowers the risk that the bassist will see his own shadow and bring on six more weeks of Christmas carols. Relax into seasonal songs with this GrouponLive deal to see the Dukes of September, featuring Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald, and Boz Scaggs, at the San Jose Civic. For $50, you get one ticket for reserved balcony seating on Saturday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. (up to a $102.10 value).

The Dukes of September came together in 2010, but they're as far from newcomers as it gets. As if a classic-rock fan's record collection sprang to life, the supergroup draws on the talents of Michael McDonald, Donald Fagen, and Boz Scaggs. Aside from long and laurelled careers as a Doobie Brother, Steely Dan frontman, and solo songwriter, respectively, the trio has previously played together. As the New York Rock and Roll Soul Revue in the '90s, they paid tribute to the sounds that shaped all three, from Etta James to Eddie Floyd.

After two decades, they've revived their revue of classic blue-eyed soul, jazz, R & B, and rock 'n' roll. "The idea was to play music that we all liked when we were kids—music that made us want to become musicians in the first place," Fagen told Rolling Stone. They've also mixed in hits from their days sailing the airwaves of Top 40 radio, along with the occasional cut from contemporaries such as the Grateful Dead or The Band. Throughout it all, audiences can expect McDonald to come equipped with his unmistakable bearskin-rug bellow and ability to play piano underwater, Fagen to send his fingers scampering through jazz chords, and Scaggs to pour out his velvety croon.

"Great venue except for handicapped"
The elevator taking us up a level got stuck and was clearly in poor repair. The staff did their best to be helpful, the problem was with the facility itself. There are an enormous amount of steps in this lovely place to see a concert but be forewarned if you have mobility issues.

"The Head and the Heart Concert"
Of course the concert was great, but I will stick to the Greek theater. It is gorgeous. With LA weather being nearly perfect, it was the perfect backdrop to a really cool experience at the Greek. Nestled on the side of a hill with tall trees, the theater is beautiful and the acoustics were... Read More
