And during a June 21 showdown on the road in Atlanta, the Liberty made a strong case for itself as a team that deserves to climb the standings. Four players scored in double figures that night, including rookie Brittany Boyd, who put up 18 points off the bench. In fact, the Liberty bench outscored Atlanta’s bench 34-13. Behind Tina Charles’s 100th career double-double, the starters came through too, creating a blueprint for future successes based on teamwork and depth rather than unplugging the scoreboard when things go wrong.
