The Scouting Report
In a season that has seen some of the Mets’ young hurlers emerge as surefire stars, the team’s doubleheader sweep on June 18 was a promising glimpse of the organization’s future. Facing off against the division-rival Braves—one of the most dangerous offenses in baseball—Mets pitchers surrendered a total of just four runs over the course of the doubleheader, including a no-hit bid that went into the seventh inning of the first game. With the season approaching its halfway point, the Mets lean further on their young talent as N.L. foes invade Citi Field, including those familiar Braves in late July.
