What You'll Do
Jazz is best savored in small groups, whether it's the cozy confines of a smoky nightclub or an intimate Brooklyn salon. Join Nicholas Brust and Katya Dreyer-Oren for an evening of jazz performed by a quartet of professional musicians. Over the course of two sets—each 45 minutes long—the quartet blends classics from the American Songbook with sultry bossa nova standards. During the intermission, you'll have a chance to mingle with the musicians while enjoying a bounty of delicious home-baked goods.

Nicholas Brust and Katya Dreyer-Oren
Saxophonist Nicholas Brust and singer Katya Dreyer-Oren first met while earning their master's degrees in jazz performance from the New England Conservatory. He was building on a childhood of listening to saxophonic legends like Charlie Parker and John Coltrane—and she was Brandeis University's first jazz major, honing her vocal stylings under Dominique Eade, Jason Moran, and John McNeil.
These days, the pair keeps life musical. Nicholas frequently tours the Boston and New York areas with his quintet and trio, where he shows off what he's learned from jazz luminaries such as Walt Weiskopf, Miguel Zenón, and Jerry Bergonzi. When Katya isn't touring with her quartet, More Than Four, she likes to indulge in her other passion: baking.
