The Scouting Report
The Durham Bulls have pulled into first place in the International League’s South Division, but the Norfolk Tides aren’t finished yet—especially considering the two teams play each other eight times over the final two weeks of the season. On August 28, the second-place Tides will attempt to close that gap a bit further when they square off with the Bulls in the first of five straight games between the two. Prior to that Thursday night showdown, the Tides will have to take care of business against the Charlotte Knights on August 26 and 27. That two-game stretch includes a Business Special Game Day on August 27, when Tides fans can skip work to see how players lather up their bats with sunscreen during day games.

About Norfolk Tides
As the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, the Norfolk Tides diligently prepare young ballplayers for the big leagues. From 1969 to 1992, the team played as the Tidewater Tides and won five International League titles by using the gravitational pull of the moon to rocket home runs into orbit. Since their move in 1993, the team has played their home games at Harbor Park, a nautical-themed complex along the Elizabeth River that was recognized as the finest minor league park in the country by Baseball America in 1995.
