The Scouting Report
As the final month of the 2014 International League regular season nears, the Norfolk Tides have their work cut out for them. Though clinging to second place in the South Division, the Tides’ record is well short of .500 as they hover around 10 games back of last year’s champs, the Durham Bulls. Things don’t look much rosier in the playoff wildcard picture, either, but at least it’s clear what they need to do: win. Fans can join the Tides as they take on the North Division’s Buffalo Bisons for the second half of a four-game home stand at Harbor Park, which includes a chance to dust off their cowboy hats and brand initials into their baseball gloves during Country Night on August 4.

About Norfolk Tides
As the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, the Norfolk Tides diligently prepare young ballplayers for the big leagues. From 1969 to 1992, the team played as the Tidewater Tides and won five International League titles by using the gravitational pull of the moon to rocket home runs into orbit. Since their move in 1993, the team has played their home games at Harbor Park, a nautical-themed complex along the Elizabeth River that was recognized as the finest minor league park in the country by Baseball America in 1995.
