What You'll Get
Although 20% of babies who were exposed to classical music in utero become doctors or lawyers, 100% of babies born on stage during a classical-music performance become Bill Gates. Upgrade your evening with this deal to see the North Port Symphony perform at the North Port Performing Arts Center on Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get two tickets for seating in the orchestra or balcony section (up to a $24 value).
- For $19, you get four tickets for seating in the orchestra or balcony section (up to a $48 value).<p>
Capping the season with this final concert, the North Port Symphony premieres Concerto for Guitar, a commissioned work from local composer Rex Willis. Soloist Thomas Koch, Willis’s friend and colleague, mans the frets and draws forth the composer’s playful blend of blues, Latin beats, and Copland-tinged sweep while a full orchestra backs him up.
Since 1983, North Port Symphony’s nonprofit ensemble of amateur and professional musicians have filled patrons’ ears with classical and contemporary tunes. Maestro and college-music instructor Sasha von Dassow expertly pilots the talented community members through five concerts and one voyage to the moon every season, drawing on years of experience that include four recorded albums and regular performances as a symphonic cellist with the Florida Orchestra.
