The Scouting Report
With nearly a two-month break between bouts, the women of Northwest Derby Company had to make their June 21 match-up count. They did just that by pummeling the Margarita Villains 231-91, adding yet another victory to a season full of exciting wins. Next month, NDC returns to the track for two hard-hitting bouts, including a showdown with Walla Walla Sweets Roller Girls on September 20. That evening, Lethal Enforcer, Volatile Velvet, and the rest of the 2014 roster will defend their home track at Sk8 Town with hard hits and slick maneuvers. Of-age fans in attendance can enjoy the nectars of the on-site beer garden, as well as head to the after party at Slaughter County Brewing Company in downtown Port Orchard.
Northwest Derby Company
Northwest Derby Company has one simple goal: create an environment in which women can train for and participate in roller-derby competition. The company offers any woman over the age of 18 an outlet to do just that. But bone-crunching hits and impressive jams aren’t tops on the NDC’s priority list—those slots are reserved for equality, sportsmanship, and democracy. Such qualities ensure every woman who joins the team has a voice, no matter how long she’s played or how long she’s considered herself a skate whisperer.
