Although not one of the five traditional senses, a sense of humour is the only thing that allows humans to answer knock-knocks at the door. You’re there with this Groupon to see the "Not So Svelte Comedy Show" at Svelte Cocktail Lounge. For $10, you get one ticket for general-admission seating on Sunday, April 1, at 7 p.m. (a $10 value).
Commandeering the swanky stage at Svelte Cocktail Lounge on April Fool's Day, the "Not So Svelte Comedy Show" showcases two hours of comedians from the west shore. Atomic Vaudeville's Carlo Rossi hosts the night's cavalcade of funny people, which begins with sets from standup newcomers Ryan Bangma and Harris Anderson. The evening of contagious laughter marches onward behind the sharp-witted quips of seasoned improv actor and scientist Morgan Cranny, the sidesplitting jangles of Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie member Wes Borg, and the unabashed stand-up of Giants V: Murder By Death actress Katie-Ellen Humphries. Headliner Mike Delamont, star of the acclaimed one-man show God is a Scottish Drag Queen, channels many of his eccentric characters as he shares observations about the Mayans, the Olympics, and skydiving. Though not valid with this Groupon, Svelte Cocktail Lounge hosts a variety of other events–upcoming shows include dueling pianos, a DJ set, and a 10-piece salsa band.
