The Scouting Report

Until last season, the Cowboys seemed stuck in place. Three consecutive 8–8 finishes had fans questioning the team’s direction. But last year they broke through, not by discovering a secret endzone on the sidelines, but by reaching the real endzone thanks to the league’s fifth-highest-scoring offense and second-most-productive running game. Though the backfield promises to look different in 2015 without star back DeMarco Murray, owner Jerry Jones isn’t worried. In fact, at the team’s annual golf outing, he boasted that the new squad’s running game is an improvement: “When you say the entire running game—and that would be including our tight ends, including fullbacks, the entire game—we’re better. We’re better.”
