Under the guidance of Artistic Director Roy Kaiser, the skilled dancers of the Pennsylvania Ballet enchant audiences with spirited performances and a classical and contemporary repertoire. The 2011–2012 season stimulates fine-art connoisseurs with a diverse offering of ballets, ranging from the sultry Pushing Boundaries to the whimsical Peter Pan, the story of a man and his attempt to reclaim his lost sense of childlike wonderment by eating too much peanut butter. Two separate venues host the performances: The Academy of Music, which boasts a capacity of 2,897, and the Merriam Theater, a more intimate playhouse featuring seats with built-in air horns.
