Peter Pan

In Neverland, children stay young forever, pixie dust lets you fly, and directions like "second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning!" exhaust tourists. In the musical adaptation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan—first staged in a Tony-winning 1954 production—mischievous Peter leads Wendy, Michael, and John to this magical land where he flies rings around the villainous Captain Hook and forever thwarts adulthood. But when Captain Hook and his band of pirates capture Wendy and her brothers, it's up to Peter to save the day. Fortunately, he has his Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys to back him up, and the old pirate has a crippling fear of the crocodile that took his hand.

To transport audiences to Neverland along with the characters, an elaborate wire system—the likes of which have been used in the Wicked national tour and Taylor Swift concerts—lifts Peter over their heads and around the theatre.

Arizona Broadway Theatre

A Peoria fixture since 2004, Arizona Broadway Theatre combines performances with fine dining, a marriage that helped garner the title of Best Playhouse from PHOENIX magazine in 2010. Curtains open to a cast of talented performers, who were culled from auditions in New York and the Valley of the Sun, and have belted out Broadway staples such as Grease, Fiddler on the Roof, and Singin' in the Rain. Servers glide through the tiered theater hall prior to performances, peppering white tablecloths with platefuls of American fare. Previous show's menus have included such dishes as steak diane's sliced tenderloin paired with sautéed shallots and lyonnaise potatoes, which entertain patrons' stomachs without forcing them to eat the show's program.
