Scouting Report

After a trip to ArenaBowl XXVI a season ago, the Soul appear to be championship contenders once again. Already halfway through the 2014 campaign, the team has showcased one of the best offenses in the league thanks to a solid running game, which is a rare sight in arena football, a sport played with a zero-gravity ball that floats effortlessly when thrown in the air.

During a May 17 victory over Tampa Bay, Soul running back Derrick Ross became the first player in league history to record 2,000 career rushing yards. Ross also leads the AFL in rushing touchdowns this season, proving to be the perfect complement to quarterback Dan Raudabaugh's high-flying passing game. On July 20, fans can witness the team's multi-faceted attack during the final home game of the regular season at Wells Fargo Center—where the Soul have yet to lose. It's also fan appreciation day at the stadium, complete with a team poster giveaway for the first 3,000 fans and plenty of raffle prizes throughout the evening.

Philadelphia Soul

For nearly 10 years, the Philadelphia Soul have been a fixture in the AFL— earning four trips to the postseason and two ArenaBowl appearances. All of the team's hard work built to a head in 2008, when they claimed victory in ArenaBowl XXII, defeating the San Jose SaberCats 59–56 and earning the right to replace the plastic Foster Trophy in their trophy case with a real one. The team plays its home games at Wells Fargo Center, which they share with the city's professional hockey and basketball teams.
