Philadelphia Union
Everything about the Philadelphia Union is patriotic, from their name right down to their colors. The Union became Major League Soccer's 16th team in 2008, and soon thereafter the franchise adopted its moniker in honor of America's original colonies. The club's colors of navy blue and gold represent the Continental Army's uniforms during the Revolutionary War, and its crest is packed with allusions to the country's origins. Rather than hiring a Ben Franklin impersonator as their first head coach, the Union focused on the pitch to do their city proud on April 10, 2010. That day, during the inaugural home opener against D.C. United, they claimed the first victory in franchise history in front of nearly 35,000 fans.
