The Scouting Report
Last season, the Providence Bruins were one game away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. Their 50-21 record was the best in the American Hockey League, and they entered the postseason as a surefire favorite before falling in a game seven of a hard-fought series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. With added motivation after last year’s finish, the squad looks to be formidable again in the 2013–2014 campaign behind returning stalwarts including goalie Niklas Svedberg, who guarded the net like he was protecting the world’s first-ever house of cards on his way to posting the league’s third-best save percentage.
From the Calder Cup championship team of 1998–99 to the holders of the league’s best record in 2007–08, the P-Bruins have a long history of producing quality players and offering up an engaging and intimate environment in which to watch the star athletes of tomorrow and star zamboni operators of today. The team’s history as a perennial playoff contender has prepared many of its star alumni to advance to the NHL and play for the Boston Bruins.
