Signaling the end of the season, the Summer Set Music & Camping Festival sends off the dog days in style with three days of outdoor revelry anchored by 60 of the biggest players in the electronica and hip-hop games. Rising stars and living legends alike take to the festival’s trio of stages for memorable, open-air performances followed by after-parties at the campground, which keep the jams spinning like an infinite jelly roll. Feet can’t help but gyrate as the chilled, sample-heavy grooves of Pretty Lights layer vintage R & B vocals over glitchy, scratched rhythms and Big Gigantic drops hot and heavy beats of mammoth proportions, offset by the occasional saxophone squonk.

Brooklyn rhyme-sayer Nas continues to carve his name in hip-hop legendry with the same attitude that permeates his highly acclaimed 1994 album Illmatic, and his Big Apple brethren, Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), reunite under the Black Star moniker in support of their first album together in 14 years. Also included on the festival’s diverse bill of musical acts are infectious jam band Umphrey's McGee and instrumental troupe Lotus, whose slow-building, electronic improvisations create an eminently danceable, machine-like sound that rivals C-3PO’s short-lived disco career.

Customer Reviews

Awesome show. I was worried initially because you couldn't hear a few of the earlier acts too good, but the engineer corrected the sound problem. Great show
