What You’ll Do
A blank scarf is a canvas ripe for creative expression. With the guidance of textile designer Rekha Krishnamurthi, you’ll learn how to use an eyedropper and other tools to paint colorful dyes onto your own silk scarf. Afterwards, all that’s left for you to do is wait for you creation to dry before you take it home.
Paint Your Own Scarf
After receiving a blank silk scarf, you’ll use provided dyes and tools to paint your own design.
The scarf then sets in steam for 15–20 minutes, after which you can take it home.
Bring Your Creativity
Participants are encouraged to dress casual and bring design ideas—though instructor Rekha Krishnamurthi also provides sample designs.
It’s quite possible that you’ve seen some of Rekha Krishnamurthi’s artwork without ever knowing it. At her design studio Divine NY & Co, Rekha dyes and prints textiles for clothing, home decor, and more. She also teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and she has garnered ample media attention from the likes of HuffPost Live and Oprah.com.
