What You’ll Do
Nearly a millennium before the invention of Gutenberg’s printing press, the Chinese were using the art of block printing to embellish textiles with patterns and text. During a three-hour workshop, designer Rekha Krishnamurthi teaches you the ancient technique as you print a fabric design of your own. Following Rekha’s lead, participants carve a linoleum block with a custom pattern, then use it to decorate a piece of cotton fabric they’ll take home at the end of the session.

Learn an Ancient Art
The basic techniques covered in the workshop allow you to print text, images, and patterns on textiles and paper. -
Supplies Included
Each participant receives carving tools, inks, and rollers to use for the workshop and one linoleum block and a yard of cotton fabric to decorate and take home. Guests also receive written information for future printing projects at home.
