  • Rich Homie Quan: The rapper behind club hits “Stay Down” and “Type of Way” overcame personal hardship to make the acclaimed mixtape Still Goin’ In and perform with Trinidad James, Gucci Mane, and Young Jeezy.
  • Migos: With the mega-hit “Versace” topping more lists in 2013 than milk or eggs, the Dirty South hip-hop trio of Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset have gone on to collaborate with stars such as Drake and Wiz Khalifa, paving the way for 2014’s “Fight Night.”
  • Young Thug: This Atlanta rapper, born Jeffrey Williams, earned acclaim from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork for his sing-song-style mixtape 1017 Thug, leading to collaborations with Kanye West and Waka Flocka Flame.
