It’s been more than 20 years since Lonestar began building the ladder to its superstardom, playing on small stages in bars around Nashville. In those early days, the four young Texans performed around 500 shows, sometimes four or five sets a night, pulling their equipment around town in a trailer hitched to a Jeep Cherokee hitched to a horse and buggy. Since then, the quartet has crisscrossed the globe on worldwide tours, added ACM awards to its mantel, and belted out 10 No. 1 country hits, including the crossover smash and Billboard topper “Amazed.”
Celebrating two decades of making music, the original group has reunited with lead singer Richie McDonald to embark on a 90-date tour across North America. The band’s live sets pull from a back catalog that begins with twangy tracks such as “No News,” rooted in the rich vocals, strong melodies, and woman-done-me-wrong narrative arc of a classic country song. The group also pulls on heartstrings with its earnest ballads, including 2001’s “Already There,” which takes on special significance for military families who sent loved ones overseas.
