What You'll Do
Today, Little Italy and Chinatown stand as quaint windows into their respective cultures, and the intersection that was once known as Five Points sits beneath the staid buildings of the Civic Center. Once upon a time, however, these three neighborhoods served as the loci of organized crime in New York. With veteran tour guide and cultural historian Robin London, you'll walk the streets of south Manhattan, where Italian Mafiosi worked rackets, underground opium dens catered to debauched customers, and Irish gangsters ruled the slums with an iron fist. An enthusiastic guide of her native city, London leavens her vivid tales with stops at some of her favorite spots.
