What You’ll Do
Though the Smithsonian and the National Gallery of Art boast an impressive selection of canonical works, D.C. also has a vibrant contemporary art scene filled with captivating pieces that can’t be seen in a museum. During this two-hour guided tour, curator Roxanne Goldberg shines a spotlight on modern-day masterpieces as you follow her through the galleries of Dupont Circle, U Street, and Logan Circle. Throughout the tour’s three to five stops, Roxanne leads detailed discussions with gallery owners and artists (if they’re available).
Uncover D.C.’s Contemporary Art Scene
Curator Roxanne Goldberg leads you and the group through contemporary art galleries in Dupont Circle, U Street, and Logan Circle.
Meet Gallery Owners and Artists
Each stop on the tour will include conversations with the gallery owner as well as the artists themselves, if they happen to be on-site.
Discuss Art Over Drinks
Following the tour, guests are invited to congregate at a local restaurant or bar for drinks and continued discussion of the art.
Curator and Writer
Roxanne Goldberg’s passion for contemporary art was honed in the classroom, but only through real-world experience has her art expertise blossomed. As a curator, she’s arranged exhibitions for Gallery 102 in D.C. and SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin. As a writer and winner of the 2013 D.C. Student Arts Journalism Challenge, she contributes art criticism to outlets such as Hi-Fructose and ArtSeeDC.
