Dance genres collide and harmonize in Shaping Sound, a high-energy performance troupe directed by four Emmy-nominated choreographers. Television viewers will know Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson for their contributions to Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and their own star turn in All the Right Moves.
On stage, they join fellow alums of those shows to compose a professional company who leap and twist through pieces that range from the crisply robotic to the dreamily romantic. Describing themselves as “visual musicians,” the dancers powerfully illustrate beats and melodies with every movement of their bodies.
Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts
Built in 1928, Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts dazzles patrons with an ornate art-deco façade and lush Spanish Renaissance interior. Elegant columns, glittering chandeliers, and vibrant geometric patterns create a palatial atmosphere in the lobby. The auditorium's intimately arranged velvet seats leave every viewer within 70 feet of the stage, eliminating the need for binoculars or drawn-out games of telephone describing the onstage action.
