The Scouting Report

Even if it weren't being held in the offense-friendly, tropical conditions of Honolulu, the 2013 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl would still project to be a shootout. The Boise State Broncos—who finished in second in the Mountain West's Mountain division with an 8–4 record—enter the bowl showdown with the 17th-best offense in the nation, pouring in an average of 38.8 points per game. Their opponent, the Oregon State Beavers, practice aggressive play-calling on the offensive side of the ball, as well. The Beavers rode the nation's third-most prolific passing game to a fourth-place finish in the Pac-12, airing the ball out for a whopping average of 382 yards per game. Fans should keep an eye trained on the end zone at all times during the Christmas Eve contest out of respect for each team's offensive prowess and in case Santa flies his sleigh through the field goal uprights.

Sheraton Hawaii Bowl

Hawaii has long been the choice venue for professional football's all-star exhibition games, but the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl has brought more post-season gridiron drama to Honolulu every year since 2002. In its eleven incarnations, the Bowl has delivered marquee programs—including Notre Dame and Boise State—and thrilling results, including Nevada's 49–48 overtime triumph against the University of Central Florida in 2005. Typically held on Christmas Eve, the Hawaii Bowl gives residents and vacationers an annual dose of holiday cheer that doesn't require a gift receipt.
