Robinson also served as Motown's Vice President, producing and writing hits for other greats, including The Temptations ("My Girl") and Marvin Gaye. His solo career continued with chart-toppers like "Cruisin'" and "Being with You."

A Quiet Storm solidified his superstar status and cemented his reputation as a world-class songwriter and producer. The album was so influential that its title became shorthand for a genre of romantic, smooth music.
