Though the Showtime network will broadcast the Strikeforce event on January 12, only fans in attendance can smell the fear from the cage as fighters clash and grapple in an evening of live MMA action. Fighters Roger Gracie, Tim Kennedy, and Ryan Couture, son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, prime audiences for the main event during undercard matches, where mere seconds can mean the difference between a fighter's victory. As the evening wears on, some of Strikeforce's heavy hitters enter the hexagon, including the 10–0 Daniel Cormier, former Oklahoma State University wrestling star and World Grand Prix champion, facing off against heavyweight Dion Staring. All of it leads up to the main showdown—a welterweight title bout between reigning champion Nate Marquardt, a veteran fighter with numerous black belts, and Tarec Saffiedine, a powerful opponent from Belgium who started his MMA training at age 16 and a protege of MMA superstar Dan Henderson.
Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.
