Spring Vintage Classic
The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association returns to Sebring International Raceway later this month for a full weekend of vintage car racing. Over the course of three days, the historic 3.74-mile track will hum with competition, including qualifying rounds all day Friday and more than a dozen races spread across Saturday and Sunday. Drivers have grown especially fond of this annual event, since it allows them to get back on the track after a long winter of waiting and massaging their cars with shea butter to keep them loose. Spectators, meanwhile, enjoy the continuous parade of decades-old rides as well as access to the paddock, where they can get up close to the cars and drivers.
Sportscar Vintage Racing Association
The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) paints its events as rolling art shows where drivers and fans gather to celebrate classic automobiles. Founded in 1981, the SVRA had an initial membership of 25 drivers and supporters. Today, they support over 2,500 members from all walks of life.
No matter their background, SVRA’s members—and its fans—find common ground in their love of vintage cars. With the association’s encouragement, most cars featured at any event are configured as closely as possible to their original design and construction. At a growing number of events per year, those cars race around some of the country’s most prestigious tracks in an environment that is festive, but safe.
