Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia’s 2014–2015 Season

  • Carmina Burana (November 8 and 9): The Metropolitan Chorus joins SONOVA for an evening of music that originally premiered in opera houses. In addition to the night’s epic titular piece, the orchestra will dive into Rossini’s galloping “William Tell Overture,” Offenbach’s parodic Orpheus in the Underworld Overture, and the romantic prologue to Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette.
  • Holidays in Paris (December 20): seasonal and classical music designed to delight the whole family and exterminate humbugs, then resurrect them as Christmas-loving butterflies
  • Annual Gala (March 28): a one-night performance of the beloved musical Les Misérables provides the bulk of the entertainment, but fans can also partake in a silent auction to support the orchestra
  • Symphonic Tap (May 30): SONOVA’s percussionists join forces with the Capitol Tap Dance Company for an evening of precise rhythm and fancy footwork
