The Scouting Report

Looking forward to the 2013-14 NHL season as a part of the newly reconfigured Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, the Tampa Bay Lightning spent the offseason acquiring top rookie talent, including last year’s AHL MVP. Earlier this month, the Lightning’s rookies emerged victorious in the 2013 Prospects Tournament, besting Boston, Florida, and Nashville on the ice with a 2-0-1 performance. When the Lightning face the St. Louis Blues in a preseason contest on September 18, fans will have an early chance to glimpse promising young talent and remind young players that they might catch a cold if they don’t wear their sweaters.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning joined the NHL has an expansion team for the 1992-93 season, and in two short decades the team has seen a full lifetime of growth and change. In 2004, they became Stanley Cup champions; they shuffled divisions a few times, eventually landing in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division; and now, they play their home games in front of crowds of up to 22,120 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The 670,000-square-foot complex gives fans a clear view of action on the ice from three decks, as well as seven levels separated according to fans’ favorite habit of highly effective people.
