The Blues Brothers

"Boots, black. Belt, black. One black suit jacket. One pair of black suit pants. One hat, black. One pair of sunglasses. Twenty three dollars and seven cents." That's all "Joliet" Jake Blues has to his name when his brother Elwood picks him up from prison in a beat-up police cruiser. But when they find out that the Catholic orphanage where they grew up is about to be closed, they decide to raise the $5,000 necessary to save it by getting their old band back together. Now, on a self-proclaimed "mission from God," Jake and Elwood cross paths with every character Chicago has to offer—including the singing minister Reverend Cleophus James (James Brown), a mysterious woman packing a lot of firepower (Carrie Fisher), and music store-owner Ray Charles (Ray Charles). They also draw the ire of a couple of country-western acts and the entire state's population of police officers along the way. Featuring musical performances by Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and John Lee Hooker, The Blues Brothers has become a cult comedy as classic as a pair of slick shades.
