The Dandy Warhols

  • Beginnings: Led by vocalist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmstrom, the four-man band first got together in Portland, OR in 1994 and released its debut album, Dandys Rule OK, in 1995.
  • Breakthrough: Though the quartet’s first two albums were successful—particularly in Europe—its big breakthrough came with the release of 2000’s Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia, which contained the hit single “Bohemian Like You” and provided material for the band’s first live album in 2014.
  • Bowie: In 2003, David Bowie personally asked The Dandy Warhols to be his opening act on his A Reality Tour. He’d been enamored with the band since 2000, when he saw them perform at the Glastonbury Festival.
  • Bowery: as in Ballroom—the New York City stop on the band’s 2016 tour to promote their 10th album, Distortland.
