The Disposable Film Festival
Hailed as one of America’s “coolest film festivals” by MovieMaker magazine, the Disposable Film Festival celebrates the world’s best no-budget filmmaking. Since 2007, the festival has curated selections of short films shot with inexpensive equipment: cell phones, still cameras, and webcams. As these flicker to life on the big screen, they demonstrate how modern technology is making it possible for creators from all backgrounds to bring their vision to life without the budgets required for CGI trickery or gold-plated cameras. And the results astound. The online gallery of past competitors bristles with technique the likes of which audiences can learn about during the fest’s workshops, competitions, and panels.
