What You’ll Do

Heat is a powerful thing: it cooks food, eases pain, and makes yoga classes that much more intense. You’ll learn to harness that power yourself in Eben Horton’s one-hour glassblowing class, with the help of a 2,000-degree furnace and some vibrantly colored glass.

  • Choose Your Colors
Select the colors for your friendship ball, then work with Horton to add the hues to the molten glass.

  • Heat Things Up
After shaping the ball, Horton shows you how to re-heat the glass in a 2,000-degree furnace.

  • Take It Home
After the bauble cools overnight, stop by the following day to pick it up, or arrange to have it shipped to you for an additional fee. Afterwards, marvel as it catches the light, or give it as a gift.

Eben Horton Eben Horton
Glass Artist

Eben Horton welcomes an audience while he works. At The Glass Station, the converted gas station in which he practices his craft, the artist deftly sculpts delicate wine glasses and colorful trinkets before appreciative audiences—a practice that caught the attention of Yankee Magazine. Don’t be surprised if you see someone else in front of the furnace, however: in addition to teaching classes at the Corning Museum of Glass, Horton has hosted workshops at his studio for the last 14 years.
