What You'll Get
Like live wires, live bands possess a crackling electrical energy and are a terrifying thing to find in the kitchen late at night. Enjoy aural shocks with today’s deal: for $17, you get one general-admission lawn ticket to see Guster and Jack’s Mannequin at The Lawn at White River State Park on Monday, August 29, at 7 p.m. (a $26 value before fees, or up to a $35 value online, including all ticketing fees). Doors open at 6 p.m.
Touring in support of its newest album Easy Wonderful, alt-rock darling Guster enraptures eardrums with catchy tunes, offbeat humor, and layered vocal harmonies. Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller meld vocal virtuosity with guitar-playing prowess alongside Brian Rosenworcel’s multifaceted percussion and Luke Reynolds’ keyboard strains. Guster charms ears with the skill of a prince in glass stilettos, crooning such popular songs as “Do You Love Me” and “Amsterdam.” Concertgoers get a double helping of euphonic entertainment, with piano-centered outfit Jack’s Mannequin adding its shimmering sound to the evening’s tuneful brews.
The Lawn at White River State Park channels sense-pleasing sound waves into the open air, where guests are surrounded by the soft hums of nature and the whirring of animatronic wildlife desperately trying to blend with the scenery. For many concerts, the venue offers free beach-style chairs, but it varies concert to concert, so call in advance. Blankets are always welcome.
