What You'll Get
Metaphors for laughter are often surprisingly violent, from “busting a gut” to “splitting your sides” to “tumbling down the jagged face of Joke Mountain.” Break a funny bone with this deal: for $35, you get general admission for two to Late Nite Catechism: Las Vegas at the Meyer Theatre on Wednesday, August 22 (a $70.50 value). Choose between the following showtimes:
- 2 p.m.
- 7 p.m.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime.
In the latest incarnation of the long-running comedy series Late Nite Catechism, “Sister” transforms Meyer Theatre into a Las Vegas classroom, where she teaches the dos and don’ts (mostly the don’ts) of navigating Sin City. In this interactive experience, the audience plays Sister’s students, and anyone attending does so at risk of her hilarious but decidedly pointed wit, particularly if they chew gum, dare whisper to their neighbor, or knowingly start a cootie epidemic. The no-nonsense nun––armed with her extensive experience running the church bingo league––uses her class to raise funds for repairs to the church roof and to arm her students against the soul-tempting city, ranting about such dangers as blackjack, stage magic, and drive-thru wedding chapels. Like all the Late Nite Catechism productions since 1993, the Vegas version walks a fine line between cynical satire and loving devotion and always keeps audience members on their toes, even as Meyer Theatre’s stately gold-leaf pillars and vibrant crimson accents set minds at ease.
