The Music of Michael Jackson with the Nashville Symphony

As interpreted by the Grammy-winning Nashville Symphony, the King of Pop’s greatest hits truly pop during this polyphonic salute to his moonwalking musical genius. The evening encompasses every era of Michael Jackson, from the Jackson 5’s “ABC” and “I’ll Be There” to thrilling “Thriller” times and beyond, all with a lush grandiosity that makes Quincy Jones’s lofty original album production seem minimalist in comparison. Broadway dynamo Chester Gregory (Dreamgirls, Hairspray) takes on the role of Michael Jackson, expertly mirroring Jacko’s signature style down to every “he-he” and “c’mon girl.” Another reason the role of the Gloved One fits Gregory like a glove: years ago, when he played the lead in The Jackie Wilson Story, Chester received a standing ovation from MJ himself.

Schermerhorn Symphony Center

Even though it opened in 2006, Schermerhorn Symphony Center looks like it’s been a part of the landscape for centuries. That’s because the center, which is named for Nashville Symphony’s late maestro Kenneth Schermerhorn, took its design cues from famed European concert halls. Its classic appearance is enhanced by 30 soundproof windows, which allow natural sunlight or unnatural spaceship lights to stream in. A custom-built organ rings out through the hall, and a convertible seating design allows the hall to morph into a ballroom floor for cabaret shows or weddings.
