A comedic ode to chums of conflicting temperaments, Neil Simon’s Tony Award–winning The Odd Couple is poised to split sides during Rhode Island Stage Ensemble’s rollicking production. The comedy’s plot revolves around the lives of two mismatched roommates—Oscar, the muddled and loveable curmudgeon, and finicky Felix, a fastidious news writer whose marriage is ending. Hilarity ensues as Oscar irritates Felix with his poor cleaning habits and perfect diction, resulting in an exchange of verbal jabs that leave bellies sore from laughter. Taking cues from director Roger MacDonald, RISE’s talented actors enhance this witty wonder with believable portrayals of the story’s grumpy characters and apathetic furniture.

About "The Odd Couple"
Artistic freedom and creative collaboration are the cornerstones of the Rhode Island Stage Ensemble. The young non-profit grew out of the pooled talents of performers, fundraisers, marketers, and designers who were all fluent in theatre, yet wary of professional theatre's limitations. So the group carved their own path, staging everything from edgy interpretations of Shakespeare to seldom-seen plays by the likes of Wilder, inviting the community to partake along the way. Now, the theater group is a cornerstone of the Woonsocket, RI arts community, offering affordable performances and high-quality education programs for children and adults.
