The Other Shore
The Other Shore – Official Trailer
World record long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad's story is a tale of passion, perseverance, and obsession. Although she'd made waves by swimming 28 miles around the isle of Manhattan and trekking 102 miles from the Bahamas to Florida, it wasn't enough for her. Her dream to swim non-stop from Cuba to Florida was yet to be fulfilled, and it brought her out of a 30-year retirement. But she didn't do it on her first try. It took four attempts to pull off that 60-hour feat—an accomplishment documented with white-knuckle tension in director Timothy Wheeler's The Other Shore.
The film follows Diana as she dives into treacherous waters without a shark cage, risking such dangers as storms, jellyfish, and trip wire-laying dolphins. As The Hollywood Reporter's John DeFore raves, "The jaw-dropping physical feats [the film] captures will wow audiences, and Nyad's stubborn personality makes for an engaging portrait." The week of the screening, audiences can catch Diana's masterful strokes as she swims for charity in front of the Good Morning America studio.
