The Plymouth Brass

Organist Tom Trenney will join The Plymouth Brass for a program sponsored by brass instrument retailer Thompson Music and centered on Chris Hazell’s uplifting From Age to Age. The piece’s title could stand in for the theme of the whole program: the evening traverses many eras with works including Saint-Saëns pupil Eugène Gigout’s 1881 Grand Choeur Dialogue, Bach’s great St. Ann Fugue, and contemporary American composer Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium. Trenney is known for his engaging improvisations on hymns, silent films, scripture, poetry, and other works.<p>
