Top 10 Rock and Roll Revue
When Darrell Croy pays tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis, he doesn't just sing the songs. Seated at his piano, Darrell runs his hands up and down the keys, the shock of each punctuation in "High School Confidential" jolting his wild, bushy hair. As the song progresses, he rips off his jacket, kicks away his seat, and flies into a frenetic bout of chords.
This sort of flashy showmanship permeates the Top 10 Rock and Roll Revue, which compiles hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s into one two-hour performance. The cast goes through more than 30 costume changes, with guitarist Steve Ragsdale donning a beard, sport coat, and eight-fingered left hand to play Eric Clapton. Several non-impersonators add extra pizazz: Marvelous Marvin Short plays saxophone under the shadow of his oversized pompadour, and Samantha Feller performs aerial stunts on ribbons hanging from the ceiling.
