Sports Tank
No matter what industry they’re in, entrepreneurs are all looking for the same thing: that big break. On Thursday, March 26, 15 sports-related startup companies will have the unique opportunity to score that break during the first-ever Sports Tank event. Based on a format from a popular television show, Sports Tank will be anchored by a group of 10 investors, as well as a sports advisory panel composed of some of the industry’s top executives rather than its most-business-savvy mascots.
Throughout the day, each participating company will present its ideas and products to the panel during three- to five-minute pitches. Then the panel will grill presenters with questions, and the investors will begin making offers if they like what they hear. This tension-packed event has the potential to breed new business partnerships, but it will also give those in attendance the chance to see the next big thing before it hits the market.
TPG Sports
For more than two decades, the folks behind TPG Sports have held some of the highest-ranking positions in the NBA, including as managers, scouts, coaches, and team personnel. With TPG, they parlay that experience and the relationships they’ve built into well-organized and fruitful global sporting events. At these events, up-and-coming players and aspiring members of the sports industry are able to network, learn about potential career paths, and gain exposure without ever having to post their resumes onto every billboard in town.
