Having recently performed during America's Got Talent on July 11, Traces showcases dancing, sports, and high-flying acrobatics without the safety of a net or strings. Abstractly set in a makeshift shelter following an unspecified catastrophe, seven urban acrobats begin rebuilding their world the only way they know how, through the use of creative bodily expression and a stockpile of peninsulas. Time recognized Traces as one of its Top 10 Everything of 2011, and Time Out New York called the show a "sexy, gritty spectacle."
The barrier between stage and seating shatters during the performance as the cast often addresses the audience directly, not as their character but as themselves. Productions of the show change to suit the skills of its current players and include skateboarding tricks over human hurdles, exactingly choreographed rollerblade routines, leaping through hoops, and brachiating from pole to pole to pack the 90-minute extravaganza with adrenaline.
