The Scouting Report
Over the past two seasons, Oilers goalie Kevin Carr has claimed a spot among the ECHL’s best netminders. A year ago, the Ontario native led the Oilers to 37 wins and a trip to the playoffs during their first season as a member of the ECHL. This year has been much of the same, with Carr improving on last year’s numbers and the Oilers primed for another postseason berth. In late March, the team will follow its 25-year-old goaltender into a key two-game series with the conference-rival Eagles. By then, both squads figure to be jockeying for playoff position, making these games especially tense, so don’t expect to see the players passing any snacks between the benches.
The Tulsa Oilers started their decades-long history in the CHL, when they captured the Ray Miron President's Cup in their inaugural season. Now competing in the ECHL, the Oilers bring with them the respect of their opponents, the love of a loyal fan base, and the loyalty of the local zamboni-drivers labor union. Since their first-year coronation, the team has continued to showcase formidable form, fighting to secure a playoff berth against their new rivals.
