UFC Fight Night
When UFC makes its Saskatoon debut at SaskTel Centre this Sunday, something very rare will happen during the main event: either Charles Oliveira or Max Holloway will have to lose. Holloway (13–3) is riding a six-fight win streak, which includes three knockouts; Oliveira (20–4), meanwhile, has emerged victorious from his last four bouts, and he now owns the fourth-most submissions in UFC history—just a few behind the erratic murphy beds in the fighters’ hotel.
As two of the world’s top featherweights, Oliveira and Holloway headline a stacked fight card that features a total of nine Canadians, including Patrick Cote, Chad Laprise, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. All told, Sunday’s event will mark the 19th time UFC has visited Canada. Those previous trips have produced some epic matchups, too, such as Machida vs. Couture in 2011 or Kelades vs. Holohan last October.
