Many theatergoers claim that life imitates art, which can be frustrating when they pause arguments for intermissions or direct drivers to turn "stage left" at stop signs. Learn to navigate the theatrical world with today's GrouponLive deal to 2011–2012 mainstage productions by the University of Massachusetts–Amherst Department of Theater. All main-stage performances are scheduled in the Fine Arts Center at either The Curtain Theater or The Rand Theater. Choose between the following options:

  • For $8, you get general admission to one mainstage performance of your choice (up to a $16 value).
  • For $44, you get a season-ticket package for general admission to all seven main-stage performances (up to an $89.60 value).

The UMass–Amherst theater department cultivates thespian talent by partnering its students with experienced faculty members as well as visiting guest artists. The 2011–2012 mainstage season commences with Tirso de Molina's Love the Doctor (October 13–15) as translated by graduate students Sarah Brew and Josephine Hardman. The comedy brims with witty dialogue and portrays one woman's quest to become a physician during the golden age of Spanish history. Solstice (December 1–10) charms audiences with puppetry choreographed and taste-tested by professor Miguel Romero and select students, who channel the revelry that some cultures associate with the winter solstice. The season concludes with Shakespeare's classic tale of love and sleep apnea, A Midsummer Night's Dream (April 19–28), which features the theatrical talents of the current artistic director of the Berkshires' Shakespeare & Co., Tony Simote. Consult the schedule for a full list of shows and performance dates, as well as a small list of reputable 24-hour dry cleaners.

Students and seniors may purchase single admissions for $8 each and season-ticket packages for $44.80 each.
