The Scouting Report
Over the final two months of the regular season, the Seahawks swoop into Trask Coliseum to defend their home court against conference rivals. Instead of hauling a chalkboard onto the court and offering lessons in physics, forward Cedrick Williams has schooled opponents where it really counts: in the box score. Williams leads the Seahawks' offensive attack, averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. For the Seahawks to land atop the standings in the Colonial Athletic Association, the junior scorer has to continue his strong play–especially against Northeastern on February 12, a team that finished with the CAA's best record a season ago.
UNCW Seahawks
Whether on the baseball diamond, on the basketball court, in the swimming pool, or on some other field of play, the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks excel. With 19 teams to its name, UNCW certainly gets plenty of chances to rack up accomplishments–and over the years, it has done just that.
The Seahawks' trophy case glistens with championships in basketball, golf, tennis, and soccer, among others. In 2010, the women's basketball team set a record for victories in a season with 24, and the men's swimming and diving team has won a conference title ever year since 2002. But rather than recognizing its student-athletes by carving their dorm rooms out of pure silver, UNCW has established an impressive, if not equally lustrous Hall of Fame. The UNCW Hall of Fame came to fruition in 1998, the same year the university celebrated its 50th anniversary.
