Black Friday Clash at the Ralph
On November 29, after the Thanksgiving turkey's been carved and all stuffing has settled, college football invades Ralph Wilson Stadium during the first-ever Black Friday Clash at the Ralph. As their final game of the 2013 regular season, the University of Buffalo Bulls barrel towards the match-up on quite a hot streak, winning seven of their last eight games and posting one of the Mid-American Conference's top records. Across the field, the Bowling Green Falcons have soared to the top of the MAC standings, as well. A year ago, these two teams met under similar conditions, playing on a neutral field in Columbus in a game that saw the Falcons earn a 21-7 victory. Now, the Bulls seek revenge at the Ralph, a professional stadium where college football hasn't been played since grass was invented in 1979.
University of Buffalo Athletics
Today, the University of Buffalo athletics program offers 20 Division I sports for men and women, including football, basketball, softball, swimming, and tennis. But despite the program's breadth and depth, it came from humble beginnings. The football team was first assembled by a group of 14 medical students in 1894, back when all football teams had an offensive line and an anesthesiologist instead of a quarterback. By 1897, the team amassed enough talent to post a perfect 7–0 record. Since then they have amassed a storied history, and now play before up to 29,020 fans at UB Stadium, also the home of Buffalo's track and field events and men's and women's soccer games.
